Using acrylic cauls for tricky glue-ups

Patrick Edwards uses thick acrylic cauls that allow him see that everything is where it should be while the glue dries.

I know, I know, I know. Two restoration videos in two weeks?!! Well, kind of.

This video from Patrick Edwards’s YouTube channel is packed with great techniques that any woodworker can use. Just the other day I was gluing veneer using blue tape to hold everything in place. Unfortunately, the blue tape hid the fact that the pieces didn’t quite line up, and I wound up having to saw it apart and start again. It wouldn’t have been a problem had I used thick acrylic for my cauls. Next time!
